Introduction- Glorification of the Theory of Smart House

Abstract:

Nowadays, the explosive physical development of cities and post-modernistic changes in people’s lifestyle intensify the concept of living in smart houses even more than before.

Smart house and the requirements of a place to play the role of home as a place of serenity with a digital perspective are extended discussions. In the last decade,

the use of design techniques and construction of smart houses have turned into inalienable principles of architecture and quickly and intensely impacted the thoughts of designers and their regressive sketches. A scrutiny of the manifests of smart house movement leads to the conclusion that the intensely-felt smartification inclination due to the dominance of electrical engineering and digital technology in design have not only affected architects’ performances, but also haunted the minds of designers with concepts like smart house, sustainable house and houses of the future.

Introduction- Glorification of the Theory of Smart House

Smart houses not only have directly connected the architectural idea and the organoid-cyber design, but also have impacted a vast variety of industrial designers, movie producers and even musicians.

In the last decade, thanks to computer and electrical engineering achievements and their strong impact, smart house has burgeoned even more and new researches have created new paradigms and re-expressed new styles in design with due regard to the concept of sustainability. Meanwhile, digital smartification has turned into a design style, independent of previous styles, a glorious and fruitful one on its own. Sustainability is a key element in the primary studies on smart house. In fact, environmental sustainability in smart house includes leaving the residence to the future generation in the best possible way. Accordingly, human activity is sustainable only when it yields serenity and facility of lifestyle without degrading previous achievements.

Environmental sustainability in smart house field emphasizes on the decrease of energy loss  and redistribution of energy in the environment, the decrease of negative factors affecting human health, the interaction of modem human being with the technology, the improvement of ecology of smart house and the condition of smartification as part of architectural requirements.

Towards Lifestyle Renaissance with Smart House Perspective

In the realm of definition and grammatology of smart house, the birth of a thought in the settings of a definite aim provides the observer with the means to witness the stages of thought from its birth to its visualization conspicuously. For a thought to be expressed from human smart brain, it obviously needs a special tool, and this tool in engineering scope and in the modern world is held to be a fundamental principle in the developed countries which employ smart housing approach.

Nowadays, smart house and its related dreamlike visions are realized quickly from the idea stage to the creation one. This approach (smart house) has a significant impact on the time and quality of realization of thoughts. For example, the possibly to achieve what one’s want is a great tool for modern human in dealing with the concept of residing in smart houses. In architectural terms, smartification requires achievement of convenience, security, globalization and the public culture of a community. Therefore, in the modern era, a mere modern pragmatic layout of sites and spaces to achieve convenience is not sufficient and house is not merely a place like a house. In fact, house is not merely a concept with form gymnastics, but a smart house is under spotlight.

Nowadays, in most architectural offices of the developed countries, smart house-oriented projects play the key roles, and sometimes, due to the outlook towards smartification, the results are recognized as valuable architectural works. In these offices, from the first design episode, the emphasis is on smartification and balancing it with welfare and convenience on one hand and on creation of an architectural paradigm. In fact, in the primary studies of these types of projects, no priority can be among these objectives.

The most revolutionary   engineering conceptual moto in the modern rea is the optimal and sustainable use of energy with a mechanical smartification approach with due regard to the climate; an uncontested Avant-garde.

Smart House, from Concept to Realization

If we are going to solve the energy problems of our present century, problems that have exacerbated in the past 200 years year after year, all of us, as social forces, must cooperate in the field of smart housing that will show its positive effects in the coming 50 years. Green energy will have gigantic consequences for the next two future generations. In fact, although we cannot return to pre-industrialization era, we must use new technology in order to benefit from smart houses. In order to interact with artificial intelligence, we need high speed telecommunications means and suitable programming. The user of a smart house needs coded messages to interact with the smart house. In smart house system, we employ a coded persona that is hard to visualize in the real world, but thanks to meticulous programming and management of space, it is defined as the essence of architecture. Jean Baudrillard, the contemporary French philosopher, holds that all real thoughts are vaporized in a wink in the cyberspace and imagery replaces reality. This is the anti-platonic and anti-cartesian aspect of a smart system that interrupts the logical equations of a space and renders a new perspective towards smart housing.

Change of Typical Architectural Form of Smart House

Liberal and smart architectural plans, as non-physical and electronic motifs, permit the emergence of open and free forms. Years before, Le Corbusier proved how internal elements can get separated from the structural network of a building. Thereafter, structural plans and special ones have been addressed separately. This theory has been reemerging in modernistic movement. With the emergence of cyber theories and post-modernistic interdisciplinary approaches, the concept of smart house has been emphasized by architects. Hans Hollein, Michael Graves and Richard Meier have been turned into the pioneers of smart housing in the western world. Meanwhile, during the grey most-modern scene  and with the intensification of echo-tech approach in the modern world, some of the engineers and scholars expressed the manifesto of the culture of living in smart houses. On the onset of postmodernism, some extremist and avant-garde groups whose main specialty was smart housing, led by Norman Foster, Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano and Jan Kaplický started designing modular smart houses. Most of today’s architectural offices that are engaged in the nature of design and planning of smart houses are indebted to these pioneers. Some of today’s most successful engineering offices are discussed below.

History and Activities of Nox Group

Lars Spuybroek, the founder of Nox Group, established the head office of Nox Group in Rotterdam. As of the early 1990s, he and his group had done research on the interaction of architecture, media and smartification. This group is among the first groups that worked on architecture and computer. Lars Spuybroek has lectured on these topics throughout the globe. He is a professor of the University of Kassel and is a lecturer of the department of digital design. He also has taught at many universities in Colombia, the Netherlands and New York. In late 2002 he published a book entitled Machining Architecture in which the principles of designing smart houses form the main axle in this book. Some of the activities of Nox group are as follows: publication of Nox Journal, production of clips, animations and digital and electronic artworks on the nature of smartification of the environment, precedence and phenomenology. From five years ago, the group has concentrated on smart architecture. D Tower (a smart house) is the most noticeable project of the group with a smart house nature. D tower is a project in which proximity and curvatures have intermingled emotions and extended qualities in space and form that in turn express the spirit of space in a smart house. In this house, human, color, money, value and emotions turn into a network of entities. This smart house, that matches the mentality of the modern human, hires motion genre to achieve super-studio. This is exactly the genre that Christopher Nolan is to express in his Inception, a supernatural smart world depicted in the film.

History and Activities of MH Control.

Vira Sepehr Homayoun Engineering and Technology Co. (MH Control) is one of the pioneers in the field of smart housing in Iran and has the first and the largest team of design and programming of PC and cellphone Apps mostly concentrated on BMS. MH Control maintains relations with various engineering disciplines in order to create a new paradigm in the scope of smartification of residence. The main objective of MH Control is publicizing smartification and BMS and reaching a common language between the user and the environment.

It can be concluded that smart house is a mean for modern human to obtain welfare in interaction with computer and virtual reality. In fact, architecture has become controllable and measurable in relationship with other engineering disciplines. Smart house will turn into a discipline in the academic curricula in the near future. Architects and engineers should set their defensive attitude against smart house aside and discuss it to reach a desirable architecture with due respect to energy.
